Cheney confirma que l'Iran ja ocupa el primer lloc en la llista de prioritats de l'administració Bush

Cheney ho ha deixat molt clar: l'Iran és ara el primer objectiu de l'administració Bush. I no només ha dit això, també ha explicat que si les negociacions entre els europeus i Teheran no acaben amb la supressió del programa nuclear iranià, el tema s'haurà de portar al Consell de Seguretat de l'ONU per a l'aprovació de sancions. Cheney ha dit també que si les coses no van pel bon camí, Washington difícilment podria evitar que Israel sigui el primer en actuar.

In bluntly threatening terms on inauguration day, Vice President Dick Cheney removed any doubt Thursday that in its second term the Bush administration intends to confront the theocracy in Iran directly.

Cheney, who often has delivered the Bush team’s toughest warnings internationally, said Iran is “right at the top” of the administration’s list of world trouble spots, and expressed concern that Israel “might well decide to act first” to destroy Iran’s nuclear program.
