Adéu a Nihil Obstat | Hola a The Catalan Analyst

Cobraran més el mestres bons: "The president challenged unions, a reliable Democratic constituency, by promoting a merit-based system of payment for teachers. “It means treating teachers like the professionals they are while also holding them more accountable,” Mr. Obama said. “Good teachers will be rewarded with more money for improved student achievement, and asked to accept more responsibilities for lifting up their schools.” "Too many supporters of my party have resisted the idea ofrewarding excellence in teaching with extra pay, even though it canmake a difference in the classroom."

Obama called for continued funding of charter schools, which his administration refers to as “laboratories of innovation.” Teachers’ unions oppose the schools, saying they take away funding for public schools, an idea he pledged to support during the campaign.

Més que diners, més exigència: “The time for finger-pointing is over. The time for holding ourselves accountable is here,” Mr. Obama said. “What’s required is not simply new investments, but new reforms. It is time to expect more from our students.”

S'acabarà el privilegi de la plaça en propietat: "Let me be clear: If a teacher is given a chance but still does not improve, there is no excuse for that person to continue teaching," Obama said. "I reject a system that rewards failure and protects a person from its consequences."
